韋拒（上羽危反經作違俗字也本作韋後人加辵丑略反作違上下相背中間困音韋聲也下渠圄反音語說文云拒抗康浪反廣雅拒捍何旦反韻英上拒格也韻詮云拒亦違也）。

韋拒 (the upper character has the fanqie 羽 + 危. The scripture writes 違, which is a vulgar character. Originally written 韋, later scribes added the walking radical 辵 [fanqie: 丑 + 略] to make 違; the top and bottom oppose each other with a phonetic component 韋 in the middle. The lower character has the fanqie 渠 + 圄, pronounced 語. The Shuowen says: '拒 means to resist [fanqie: 康 + 浪].' The Guangya says: '拒 means to defend [fanqie: 何 + 旦].' The Yunying says: '拒 means to obstruct.' The Yunquan says: '拒 also means to oppose').
