阿練若（梵語阿此云無練若有兩義一曰聲謂無人聲及無鼓譟等聲二曰斫謂無斫伐等諠吏雖言去聚落一俱盧舍為阿練若處亦須離斫伐處也譟音桑到反）。

Araṇya (Sanskrit. A translates here as 'non-'. Raṇya has two meanings: first, sound, meaning devoid of the sounds of people, drums, clamour, and the like; second, cutting, meaning free from the noise of felling and hacking. Although it is said that an araṇya is located one krośa away from a settlement, it must also be kept away from places of felling. Zao is pronounced as fanqie 桑 [s-] + 到 [-ao]).
