Universal truth (摠諦; the first character is pronounced with the fanqie 宗 + 孔 [zǒng]. Gu Yewang says: "'捴' means to command, to unite, to tie together, to bundle." The Kaosheng says: "Entirely." The Gujin zhengzi says: "It is also written 總." It is formed with the hand semantic and 怱 as phonetic. The second character is pronounced with the fanqie 丁 + 弟 [dì]. The Fangyan says: "'諦' means to examine carefully." The Shuowen says: "It is formed with the speech semantic and 帝 as phonetic").
