Forcefully coerce (強, the first character, has the fanqie phonetic spelling 渠良 [qu/liang]. The Picang says: '強 means strong.' The Guangya says: 'It means robust.' The Shuowen jiezi says: 'It takes 弘 as radical and 虫 as semantic component.' 逼, the second character, has the fanqie phonetic spelling 氷力 [bing/li]. Kong's commentary on the Shangshu says: '逼 means to press.' The Boya says: 'It means close.'
