開闡（上愷哀反說文開張也從門并聲經作開俗字也并音遣賢反下昌演反韓康伯云闡明也蒼頡篇亦大開也說文從門單聲）。

Open up and expound (開, the first character, has the fanqie phonetic spelling 愷哀 [kai/ai]. The Shuowen jiezi says: '開 means to spread open; it takes 門 as radical and 幵 as phonetic component.' The sūtra writes 開, which is a popular form. 幵 has the fanqie phonetic spelling 遣賢 [qian/xian]. 闡, the second character, has the fanqie phonetic spelling 昌演 [chang/yan]. Han Kangbo says: '闡 means to illuminate.' The Cangjie pian says: 'It also means to open widely.' The Shuowen jiezi says: 'It takes 門 as radical and 單 as phonetic component').
