Covered and obscured (覆, the first character, has the fanqie phonetic spelling 芳救 [fang/jiu]. Jia's commentary on the Guoyu says: '覆 means to cover.' The Shuowen jiezi says: 'It takes 襾 as radical and 復 as phonetic component.' 襾 has the fanqie phonetic spelling 赫賈 [he/jia]. 翳, the second character, has the fanqie phonetic spelling 於計 [yu/ji]. Guo's commentary on the Erya says: '翳 means to conceal.' The Shuowen jiezi says: 'It means to cover; it takes 羽 as radical and 殹 as phonetic component.' 殹 has the same sound as above).
