鴟鵂（上齒之反鄭箋毛詩云鴟惡鳴之鳥也古今正字鳶屬也從鳥氐聲下朽尤反字書云鵂鶹祅鳥也一名鵅夜飛晝伏古今正字恠鳥也從鳥伏聲鵅音格也）。

鴟鵂 (the first character is chi + zhi fan; Zheng [Xuan]'s notes on the Mao Poetry say: "鴟 is a bird of ill omen"; the Gujin zhengzi says: "A kind of kite [鳶]"; it is formed with 'bird' [鳥] with di [氐] as phonetic; the second character is xiu + you fan; the Zishu says: "鵂鶹 is an ominous bird, also called a 鵅; it flies by night and hides by day"; the Gujin zhengzi says: "A monstrous bird"; it is formed with 'bird' [鳥] with fu [伏] as phonetic; 鵅 is pronounced ge).
