鹹滷（上音咸下星亦反爾雅云滷苦也周禮作瀉古今正字義同從水舃聲）。

Salty and alkaline (鹹滷: the upper [character] has the sound 咸 [xián]; the lower [character has the fanqie] 星亦 [x- + -ì → xī]. The Erya says: “滷 means bitter.” In the Zhouli it is written as 瀉. In the Gujin zhengzi the meaning is identical; it is formed from 水 (water) and 舃 as phonetic).
