Ying-zao (蠅𤼭) (The first character has the fanqie yi + ling. The Mao Poetry Commentaries says: 'As an insect, a fly soils white into black and black into white.' The Shuowen says: 'It derives from chong (虫, insect) and meng (黽); meng is pronounced meng.' The second character has the fanqie zao + lao: 'A flea that bites people and leaps.' The Shuowen says: 'It derives from chong (虫, insect) and [? 乂] has the pronunciation zhao.' The sūtra text writes [(夕*?)/虫], which is an erroneous abbreviation).
