𦍬磔（上古吳反孔注尚書云𦍬罪也鄭注禮記云𦍬之言枯也謂磔之也說文從辛古聲也經文從羊作𦍬非也下陟格反已於上文鐵城泥犁經釋訖）。

𦍬磔 [Severing and dismembering]: The upper character is [pronounced with the fanqie] 古 + 吳 [gū]. Kong's commentary to the Shangshu states: '𦍬 means crime.' Zheng's commentary to the Liji states: '𦍬 has the sense of drying up; it refers to dismembering.' The Shuowen jiezi says it is derived from 辛 with 古 phonetic. The sūtra text writes it with 羊 as 𦍬, which is incorrect. The lower character is 陟 + 格 [zhé], which has already been glossed above under the Iron City Niraya Sūtra.
