錢雇（書皆作顧同光護反雇猶答賽償報之言也謂與錢得者也漢書數招顧攉金錢文潁曰謂託以金錢自顧續漢書賈賣官關內侯顧五百刃者與之皆是也）。

錢雇 (In texts this is generally written as 顧; the pronunciation is the same, with the fanqie *gu[āng] + [h]ù*. *Gu* is like words for repaying, compensating, and returning remuneration; it refers to obtaining something by giving money. In the Hanshu, "repeatedly hired and disbursed gold and coins," Wen Ying states: "This means using gold and coins to hire oneself out." In the Hou Hanshu, "selling offices, giving the rank of Guanneihou to anyone who hired it for five hundred ren," both are examples of this).
