㨑拔 ('grabbing and pulling out'): For the first character, the fanqie is [z- + ong >] zǒng and [g- + ong >] gōng. The Kaosheng says: 'To seize and clutch.' The Wenzi jilüe says: '㨑 means pulling and dragging each other.' Yan Qian's Tongsu wen says: 'Grasping the head is called 㨑. Composed of 手 and 㚇.' 㚇 is pronounced zōng. For the second character, the fanqie is [p- + ai >] pái and [b- + a >] bá. The Classic of Changes says: 'Pulling up cogon grass along with its intertwined roots.' The Gujin zhengzi says: 'Composed of 手 with 犮 phonetic.' 犮 has the fanqie [p- + u >] pú and [m- + o >] mò.
