敷[沱-匕+(申-〡+人)]（上撫無反孔注尚書云敷布也又猶舒也韓詩外傳云大也說文云敷散也從支尃聲尃音浦支音普卜反下延典反考聲云演猶廣也說文從水[宋-木+臾]聲[宋-木+臾]正[宋-木+臾]字也）。

敷演 ('expounding and elaborating'): For the first character, the fanqie is [f- + u >] fǔ and [w- + u >] wú. Kong Anguo's commentary on the Classic of Documents says: '敷 means to spread out; it is also like expanding.' The Hanshi waizhuan says: 'It means great.' The Shuowen says: '敷 means to disperse. Composed of 攴 with 尃 phonetic.' 尃 is pronounced pǔ. 攴 has the fanqie [p- + u >] pǔ and [b- + u >] bū. For the second character, the fanqie is [y- + an >] yán and [d- + ian >] diǎn. The Kaosheng says: '演 is like broadening.' The Shuowen says: 'Composed of 水 with [yí] phonetic.'
