愶將（虛業反方言愶䦧懼也謂以威力相恐懼也䦧郭璞音呼隔反廣雅愶怯也公羊傳愶干齊劉兆曰愶畏迫也今皆作脅）。

愶將 ('intimidating and leading'): The fanqie is [x- + u >] xū and [y- + e >] yè. The Fangyan says: '愶 and 䦧 mean fear; that is, using force and power to cause mutual terror.' For 䦧, Guo Pu gives the fanqie [h- + u >] hū and [g- + e >] gé. The Guangya says: '愶 means cowardice.' The Gongyang zhuan says: '愶干齊.' Liu Zhao says: '愶 means to intimidate and coerce.' Nowadays it is usually written as 脅.
