曲蟺（音善古今注云丘蚓也一名蜜蟺江東名寒蚓善長吟於地中江東謂為歌女或謂鳴砌經文作蟬非今體也）。

Earthworm (曲蟺: pronounced shàn; the Gujin zhu states: "It is an earthworm (丘蚓); another name is mìshàn (蜜蟺); in Jiangdong it is called hányǐn (寒蚓); it is fond of singing long notes underground; in Jiangdong they call it 'singing maiden' or 'brick-chirper'"; the scripture text writes it as 蟬, which is not the modern standard form).
