沈沔（上除林反孔注尚書云沈謂冥醉也杜注左傳云沈溺濕也顧野王沒也說文從水冘聲冘音淫下綿褊反考聲云𭰫躭酒也孔注尚書云沔飲酒過差失度也說文從水丐聲也經從心作忱愐非也）。

沈沔 (The first character has the fanqie 除 + 林. Kong's commentary on the Classic of Documents states that 沈 refers to being dead drunk. Du's commentary on the Zuo zhuan states that 沈 means soaked and wet. Gu Yewang states it means submerged. The Shuowen says it is formed from 水 [water] with 冘 phonetic; 冘 is pronounced 淫. The second character has the fanqie 綿 + 褊. The Kaosheng states that it means indulging excessively in liquor. Kong's commentary on the Classic of Documents states that 沔 means drinking alcohol beyond measure and losing restraint. The Shuowen says it is formed from 水 [water] with 丏 phonetic. In the sūtra it is written with the heart radical as 忱愐, which is incorrect).
