蠆毒（上丑芥反象形字鄭箋毛詩蠆毒蟲也秦晉之間謂之[虫*束*頁]𱿴通謂之蠍鄭玄曰蠆尾如婦人拳髮曲而上卷尾竭有毒說文從虫萬象其形也）。

蠆毒 (The first character has the fanqie 丑 + 芥; it is a pictographic character. Zheng's gloss on the Classic of Poetry states that 蠆 is a venomous insect. Between Qin and Jin it is called [虫*束*頁]𱿴; generally it is called a scorpion. Zheng Xuan says: "The tail of the 蠆 curls up like a woman's hair bun; its tail ends with venom." The Shuowen says it is formed from 虫, depicting its shape like 萬).
