髫齔（上音調埤蒼云髫髦也考聲云小兒剃髮留兩邊髮也說文從髟召聲經文作齠亦通也髟音必遙反下初謹反鄭注周禮男七歲女八歲即毀齒也說文從齒七聲經作齓非也古文也）。

髫齔: The upper character is pronounced 調. The Picang says: '髫 means the tufts of children's hair.' The Kaosheng says: 'A child having their hair shaved while leaving hair on both sides.' The Shuowen jiezi says: 'It follows 髟 with 召 as phonetic.' The sūtra writes 齠, which is also interchangeable; 髟 has the phonetic spelling 必遙. The lower character has the fanqie phonetic spelling 初謹. Zheng's commentary on the Rites of Zhou says: 'A boy at seven years old and a girl at eight years old lose their milk teeth.' The Shuowen jiezi says: 'It follows 齒 with 七 as phonetic.' The sūtra writing 齓 is incorrect; it is the ancient character.
