Young locusts taking flight (蝝飛): [The first character is] yue plus quan fan. The Gongyang zhuan says: 'Yuan (蝝) is precisely the xuan (蠉); when locusts are newly hatched they are called yuan (蝝), and when grown they are called fei (𧑄).' The Shuowen says: 'Locust larvae; taking "insect" (虫), with tuan (彖) for sound.' The insect fei (𧑄) is pronounced zhong plus hui fan.
