甘蔗（之夜反文字釋訓云甘蔗美草名也汁可煎為砂糖說文藷也從草從遮省聲也）。

Sugarcane (甘蔗: for 蔗, the fanqie is 之夜 [zhè]. The Wenzi shixun says: 'Sugarcane is the name of a delicious grass; its juice can be boiled down into granulated sugar.' The Shuowen says: 'It is 藷. It takes radical 艸 with an abbreviated 遮 as phonetic').
