病悆（余恕反韻英云和悅也考聲云悆安也韻集云天子疾曰不悆尚書云有疾不悆孔曰不悅豫也說文云悆豫也從心余聲也經文或有病愈以主反亦通集訓云愈疾差也益也孔安國注論語云愈勝也玉篇云病差為愈說文愈字從舟從刂古外反會意字也）。

Illness cured (病悆: for 悆, the fanqie is 余恕 [yù]. The Yunying says: 'Harmonious and joyful.' The Kaosheng says: '悆 means peaceful.' The Yunji says: 'When the Son of Heaven is ill, it is said 不悆 [unwell].' The Shangshu says: 'Being ill and unwell (不悆).' Kong [Anguo] says: 'Not joyful.' The Shuowen says: '悆 means joyful. It takes radical 心 with 余 as phonetic.' In the sūtra text it is sometimes written 病愈, read 以主 [yǔ], which also makes sense. The Jixun says: '愈 means illness recovering; improving.' Kong Anguo's commentary on the Analects says: '愈 means superior.' The Yupian says: 'An illness recovering is 愈.' The Shuowen says the character 愈 takes 舟 and 刂 [guì], an associative compound character).
