Birch tree (樺樹; the first character is fanqie 華 + 跨. The Kaosheng says: "The birch tree is the name of a mountain tree." It is also written with radical 雩 as 樗 with the same pronunciation. Note that birch has two kinds, red and white; its bark can be used to make torches, and the red kind is thin, wonderful, bright, and clean).
