攣躄（上劣專反俗字也韻英云手足筋急拘束不能行步申縮也正體從疒從臠作癵臠音劣轉反下音辟顧野王云躄謂足偏枯不能行也亦形聲字也從足辟聲也）。

攣躄 (The upper character is [pronounced with the] fanqie 劣專 [luán], which is a popular form. The Yunying says: "Tendon spasms in the hands and feet that cause stiffness, making one unable to walk, extend, or contract." The standard form is derived from sickness with luan phonetic, written 癵. 臠 is pronounced with the fanqie 劣轉 [luǎn]. The lower character is pronounced 辟 [bì]. Gu Yewang says: "Bi refers to paralysis of the legs such that one cannot walk." It is also a phono-semantic character, derived from foot with pi phonetic).
