瑕隙（上夏加反杜注左傳云瑕猶過也鄭注禮記云瑕玉病也廣雅云裂也說文從玉叚聲下卿逆反）。

瑕隙 (The first syllable is *xiá* [xia + jia fanqie]. Du Yu's commentary on the Zuo zhuan says: "瑕 (*xiá*) is like an error." Zheng Xuan's commentary on the Liji says: "瑕 (*xiá*) is a flaw in jade." The Guangya says: "It means a fissure." The Shuowen jiezi states that it is formed with 'jade' (玉) and 叚 as the phonetic component. The second syllable is *xì* [qing + ni fanqie]).
