以鋸（居御反國語云中古刑用刀鋸謂大辟刑也淮南子云良匠不以刀鋸不能以制木鋸者可以截物也說文鋸槍唐也從金居聲也）。

以鋸 (Pronounced *jù* [ju + yu fanqie]. The Guoyu says: "In middle antiquity, punishments employed knives and saws (鋸), referring to capital punishments." The Huainanzi says: "Even a skilled craftsman cannot shape timber without knives and saws." A saw can cut through objects. The Shuowen jiezi says: "A saw is a cutting tool; it is formed with 'metal' (金) and 居 as the phonetic component").
