[嚼-(既-旡+寸)+(彰-章+鬯)]之（上牆藥反正嚼字也淮南子云[嚼-(既-旡+寸)+(彰-章+鬯)]之而無味不能入喉也顧野王云噍也廣雅云茹也說文從口[嚼-(既-旡+寸)+(彰-章+鬯)]聲經本作嚼俗字噍音撨曜反）。

[嚼-(既-旡+寸)+(彰-章+鬯)]之 (The upper character has the fanqie 牆 [qiang] + 藥 [yao]; it is the standard character for 嚼 [to chew]. The Huainanzi says: 'Chewing it, it has no flavor and cannot go down the throat.' Gu Yewang says: 'To chew.' The Guangya says: 'To eat.' The Shuowen jiezi says it takes the mouth radical with [嚼-(既-旡+寸)+(彰-章+鬯)] phonetic. The canon's text originally used 嚼, which is a vulgar form. 噍 has the fanqie 撨 [qiao] + 曜 [yao]).
