Startled and shocked [驚㦍]: The second character (ang + ge [è]) is explained in the Jixun: 'È also means startled.' The Wenzi dianshuo says it is formed with 'mind' [心] as radical and è [㖾] as phonetic; it is also written as [(〦/(目*目)/大)*頁]. In the Vinaya text it is written as 愕, which is a vulgar character.
