妍雅（上齧賢反廣雅云妍好也考聲慧也說文妍忮也安也從女开聲开音牽忮音至下牙賈反毛詩傳云雅正也韋昭注漢書云雅素也集訓云閑麗也說文從隹牙聲也）。

妍雅 (The first character has the fanqie [齧賢] yán. The Guangya says: "Yán means fine/beautiful." The Kaosheng says: "Intelligent." The Shuowen jiezi says: "Yán means stubborn; peaceful." It has the woman classifier [女] and 开 as phonetic. 开 is pronounced qiān; 忮 has the fanqie [之至] zhì. The second character has the fanqie [牙賈] yǎ. The commentary on the Mao Classic of Poetry says: "Yǎ means correct." Wei Zhao's commentary on the Hanshu says: "Yǎ means plain and pure." The Jixun says: "Graceful and beautiful." The Shuowen jiezi has the short-tailed bird classifier [隹] and 牙 as phonetic.)
