醦毒（上衫斬反又初錦反廣雅云醦酢也埤蒼云酢甚也文字典說從酉參聲參音澀簪反）。

Extremely sour and toxic (醦毒): the first character is pronounced with the fanqie shan-zhan (shan), and also chu-jin (chen). The Guangya states: "Can means sour." The Picang states: "Extremely sour." The Wenzi dianshuo states: "It takes 'ferment/wine' (酉) as semantic classifier and has can (參) as phonetic component." Can is pronounced with the fanqie se-zan (can).
