逃竄（上道刀反鄭注禮記云逃去也廣雅避也說文亾也從辵兆聲下倉亂反杜注左傳竄匿也賈注國語隱也考聲藏也說文[門@(亞*斤)]古今正字蔽也塞藏也從鼠在穴中象形字也）。

Flee and hide (逃竄: the upper character has the fanqie *dao* + *dao*; Zheng Xuan's commentary on the *Liji* says: "逃 means to flee away"; the *Guangya* says: "To avoid"; the *Shuowen* says: "To vanish/flee"; it takes 辵 [motion] as radical and 兆 as phonetic; the lower character has the fanqie *cang* + *luan*; Du Yu's commentary on the *Zuozhuan* says: "竄 means to hide/skulk"; Jia Kui's commentary on the *Guoyu* says: "To conceal"; the *Kaosheng* says: "To hide"; the *Shuowen* writes it as [門@(亞*斤)]; the *Gujin zhengzi* says: "To screen; to obstruct and conceal; it shows a rat inside a hole, being a pictographic character").
