Sieve and winnow (簁楊: the upper character has the fanqie *suo* + *ni*; the *Gujin zhengzi* writes it with 竹 [bamboo] as radical and 麗 as phonetic as 籭, pronounced with the fanqie *shan* + *jie*, and also pronounced *shi*, glossed as: "A bamboo utensil; it can be used to take the coarse and discard the fine"; it is also written with 師 as 篩; the *Shuowen* says: "簁 and 箄 are bamboo utensils; it takes 竹 [bamboo] as radical and 徙 as phonetic"; 徙 is pronounced *xi*; 箄 has the fanqie *bi* + *mi*; 粗 has the fanqie *cang* + *hu*).
