痃癖（上現堅反俗用字諸字書惣無此字亦無本字案痃病即腹中冷氣病也發即脉脹牽急如似弓弦故俗呼為痃氣病也從疒從絃省聲下匹亦反考聲云癖腹中塊病也聲類云宿食不消者也文字典說從疒辟聲）。

痃癖 (for the first character, x- + -ian in fanqie. It is a popular character; the various character books have no such character at all, nor is there an original character. Upon examination, the disease 痃 is a cold-qi illness in the abdomen; when it occurs, the vessels swell and pull tight like a bowstring, hence the popular term 'bowstring qi disease'. It takes disease as semantic and an abbreviated 絃 as phonetic. For the second character, p- + -i in fanqie. The Kaosheng says: '癖 is an illness of lumps in the abdomen.' The Shenglei says: 'Stagnant food that does not digest.' The Wenzi dianshuo gives it with disease as semantic and 辟 as phonetic).
