扣鉢（上音口說文扣擊也從手口聲下半末反俗用字也說文中無玉篇云交州雜事記云晉大康四年臨邑國王獻鉢及白水晶鉢般子慎通俗文中從犮從皿作盋古字也）。

扣鉢 (for the first character, the pronunciation is kou. The Shuowen says: '扣 means to strike.' It takes hand as semantic and 口 as phonetic. For the second character, b- + -o in fanqie; it is a popular character, absent from the Shuowen. The Yupian says: 'The Jiaozhou zashi ji states: In the fourth year of the Taikang reign era of the Jin, the king of Linyi presented an almsbowl and a white crystal almsbowl.' Ban Zishen's Tongsu wen writes it with 犮 as semantic and 皿 as phonetic to make 盋, which is the ancient character).
