隁塞（上蔫㦥反今亦作堰論文作堰非也顧野王云隁所以停畜水也考聲云塞也文字典說云從卩匽聲匽音同上下僧則反俗字也說文正從[(耜-〡)-耒+((耜-〡)-耒)]作𡫼考聲窒也滿也當也鄭注論語云塞猶蔽也說文云隔也從土𡫼聲[宋-木+(?/大)]音上同[(耜-〡)-耒+((耜-〡)-耒)]音展）。

Damming and obstructing (隁塞; the upper character [隁] is fanqie 蔫㦥; nowadays it is also written 堰. For the treatise text to write 堰 is incorrect. Gu Yewang says: 'A 隁 is that by which water is stopped and impounded.' The Kaosheng says: 'To block.' The Wenzidian shuo says it is composed with 卩 as semantic and 匽 as phonetic. The sound of 匽 is the same as above. The lower character [塞] is fanqie 僧則; this is a popular character. The Shuowen properly writes it with [(耜-〡)-耒+((耜-〡)-耒)] as 𡫼. The Kaosheng says: 'To plug; full; to block.' Zheng's commentary on the Analects says: '塞 is like concealing.' The Shuowen says: 'To partition.' It is composed with 'earth' (土) as semantic and 𡫼 as phonetic. The pronunciation of the upper component is as above; [(耜-〡)-耒+((耜-〡)-耒)] is pronounced 展).
