般吒（此訛略也應言般荼迦此云黃門其類有五般荼迦捴名一謂具男根而不生子二𰁢利沙般荼迦𰁢利沙此云妬謂見他共婬即發情欲不見不發三扇荼般荼迦謂本來男根不滿故不能生子四博叉般荼迦謂半月作男半月作女博叉此云助謂兩半月助成一滿月也五留拏般荼迦謂被刑男根留拏此云割也）。

般吒 (This is an erroneous abbreviation; it should be paṇḍaka [般荼迦], translated here as 'eunuch'. There are five classes of them, 'paṇḍaka' being their collective name: First, one who possesses male genitalia but cannot father children. Second, īrṣyā-paṇḍaka; īrṣyā means 'jealousy', referring to one who only arouses lust upon seeing others engage in intercourse, but does not arouse it when not seeing them. Third, ṣaṇḍha-paṇḍaka, referring to one whose male genitalia have naturally been defective from birth so that he cannot father children. Fourth, pakṣa-paṇḍaka, referring to one who acts as male for half a month and female for half a month; pakṣa means 'assistance', referring to two half-months mutually assisting to complete one full month. Fifth, luna-paṇḍaka, referring to one whose male genitalia have been mutilated by punishment; luna means 'severed'.)
