忼慨（上苦朗反下開愛反顧野王云忼慨不得志也又云忼慨謂憤壯慨歎太息也或為愾字文字典說云忼慨惋憤也二字並從心亢既皆聲也論文作慷愷非也）。

忼慨 (The first character has the fanqie pronunciation 苦 + 朗 [kǎng]. The second character has the fanqie pronunciation 開 + 愛 [kǎi]. Gu Yewang says that 忼慨 means 'disappointed in one's ambitions'. He also says that 忼慨 means 'indignantly robust, sighing with regret and lamentation'; it is also written as the character 愾. The Wenzidian shuo says that 忼慨 means 'sorrowful and indignant'; both characters have the radical 心 with 亢 and 既 as their respective phonetic elements. In the treatise text they are written as 慷愷, which is incorrect).
