操觚（上草遭反考聲云操持也取也文字典說從手喿聲喿音𢳰躁反下古胡反正從木作柧通俗文云柧八棱也云削木為八稜操以書也古人用之今則不用也說文亦棱也從木瓜聲論作觚酒器也）。

操觚 (The first character has the fanqie pronunciation 草 + 遭 [cāo]. The Kaosheng says that 操 means 'to hold, to take'. The Wenzidian shuo says it has the radical 手 with 喿 as phonetic; 喿 has the fanqie pronunciation 𢳰 + 躁. The second character has the fanqie pronunciation 古 + 胡 [gū]. The correct character is written with the radical 木 as 柧. The Tongsu wen says: 'The 柧 has eight edges; it refers to wood pared into eight edges that one holds to write on; the ancients used it, but it is no longer used today.' The Shuowen also says it means 'edge'; it has the radical 木 with 瓜 as phonetic. In the treatise it is written as 觚, which is a wine vessel).
