籌量（上宙留反鄭注禮記云籌筭也顧野王云籌策所以計筭也史記曰借前箸以籌之也說文從竹壽聲下略張反考聲正作量從童也）。

Deliberating and measuring (籌量) (the upper character has the fanqie: 宙留 [chóu]. Zheng [Xuan's] commentary on the Liji says: "Chóu means calculating." Gu Yewang says: "Chóucè are that with which one calculates." The Shiji says: "Borrowing the chopsticks in front to plan it." The Shuowen says it is formed from "bamboo" with 壽 as its phonetic component. The lower character has the fanqie: 略張 [liáng]. The Kaosheng gives the orthodox character as 量, formed from 童).
