指拈（念添反廣雅拈指持也說文從手占聲論作捻俗字）。

指拈 (the second character is *nian* combined with *tian* [fanqie: nian-tian]; the Guangya says: “拈 means to hold with the fingers.” The Shuowen says: “Formed with 手 [扌], with 占 as its phonetic component.” In the treatise it is written as 捻, which is a vulgar character).
