祠禱（上似滋反白虎通日祠者嗣也顧野王云祠亦祭之總名也下刀老反鄭注禮記云求福日禱得福曰祠說文二字並從示司壽聲）。

Sacrifice and pray (祠禱: the first character *fanqie* 似 + 滋. The *Baihu tong* says: “A祠 [ancestral sacrifice] means to continue (嗣).” Gu Yewang says: “祠 is also a general name for sacrifices.” The second character is *fanqie* 刀 + 老. Zheng Xuan’s commentary to the *Liji* says: “Seeking blessings is called 禱; receiving blessings is called 祠.” *Shuowen jiezi* says: “Both characters are composed of 示 [‘spirit/altar’] with 司 and 壽 as phonetics”).
