酷法（空谷反說文作嚳云以虎害之也從學省告聲亦作俈今通作酷從酉告聲）。
Cruel punishment (酷法: *fanqie* 空 + 谷. *Shuowen jiezi* writes it as 嚳, saying: “To harm someone with a tiger; composed of an abbreviated 學 with 告 as phonetic.” Also written as 俈. Nowadays it is commonly written as 酷, composed of 酉 [‘liquor’] with 告 as phonetic).
