洲渚（上音州下章與反爾雅云水中可居曰洲毛詩傳曰渚小洲也王逸注楚辭云水涯曰渚或從阜作陼一說云大曰洲小曰渚也）。

Islet and sandbank (洲渚: the upper character has the phonetic reading of 州; the lower is zhang-yu [fanqie]. The Erya says: "A habitable place amidst water is called a 洲 (zhou)." The commentary to the Mao Shi says: "A 渚 (zhu) is a small islet." Wang Yi's commentary to the Chuci says: "A water's edge is called a 渚." It is also written with the radical 阜 as 陼. Another explanation says: "The large is called a 洲; the small is called a 渚").
