遜謝（孫寸反韻英云遜恭也考聲云遜避也集訓云避位而去也說文云遜遁也從辵丑略反孫聲也或從心作遜亦同下夕夜反考聲云拜恩也裁也告也從言射聲也）。

遜謝 ("to humbly decline"): The character has the fanqie reading [s- + -uən = xùn] (孫寸反). The Yunying says: "遜 means respectful." The Kaosheng says: "遜 means to yield and avoid." The Jixun says: "To vacate one's position and depart." The Shuowen says: "遜 means to flee. It is formed with the radical 辵 (fanqie 丑略反) and 孫 as phonetic; it is also written with the radical 心 as 遜." The second character has the fanqie reading [z- + -ia = xiè] (夕夜反). The Kaosheng says: "To thank for a favor; to decide; to inform. It is formed with the radical 言 ('speech') and 射 as phonetic."
