稼穡（上加暇反鄭注周禮云種五穀謂之稼文字典說云禾之秀為稼也從禾家聲也下生側反鄭箋詩云斂稅曰穡文字典說云后稷之穡也說文云禾可收曰穡從禾嗇聲）。

Sowing and reaping 稼穡 (The first character has the fanqie 加暇 [jià]. Zheng Xuan's commentary on the Zhouli says: 'Sowing the five grains is called jia.' The Wenzidian shuo states: 'The flowering of grain is jia.' It is composed of "grain" (禾) with "jia" (家) phonetic. The second character has the fanqie 生側 [sè]. Zheng Xuan's gloss on the Shijing says: 'Collecting the harvest is called se.' The Wenzidian shuo states: 'The harvesting done by Houji.' The Shuowen states: 'Grain that can be harvested is called se.' It is composed of "grain" (禾) with "se" (嗇) phonetic.)
