摶食（徒官反通俗文手團曰摶三蒼摶飯也論文作揣音初委反測廣前人曰揣江南行此音又都果反說文揣量故揣也關中行此音並非此義也）。

摶食 [morsel food / rolled food] (Fanqie: 徒官 [tú + guān, *tuán*]. The *Tongsu wen* states: 'Forming a ball with the hands is called 摶.' The *Sancang* states: '摶 means a ball of rice.' In the treatise it is written 揣, pronounced 初委 [chū + wěi, *chuǐ*], which means 'to probe or measure another person's thoughts'; this pronunciation is used south of the Yangtze. Another pronunciation is 都果 [dū + guǒ, *duǒ*]; the *Shuowen* states: '揣 means to measure, hence to gauge.' This pronunciation is used in the Guanzhong region. Neither carries the present meaning).
