猶豫（弋周反下古文與同弋庶反說文隴西謂犬子為猶猶性多豫在人前故凡不決者皆謂之猶豫又尒疋云猶如麂善登水郭璞曰健上樹也）。

猶豫 [indecision / hesitation] (Fanqie: 弋周 [yì + zhōu, *yóu*]; the second character is anciently identical to 與, fanqie: 弋庶 [yì + shù, *yù*]. The *Shuowen* states: 'In Longxi, a dog pup is called a *yóu*; by nature it hesitates [豫] much in front of people, therefore all who cannot make up their minds are described as *yóuyù*.' Furthermore, the *Erya* states: 'The *yóu* is like a muntjac, skilled in climbing over water.' Guo Pu says: 'It is agile at climbing trees.').
