中夭（於嬌反說文夭屈也廣雅夭折也釋名云少壯而𣦸曰夭如取物中折也字從大象形不申也不盡天年謂之夭耳）。

中夭 [premature death / untimely demise] (Fanqie: 於嬌 [yū + jiāo, *yāo*]. The *Shuowen* states: '夭 means bent.' The *Guangya* states: '夭 means broken prematurely.' The *Shiming* says: 'Dying while young and strong is called 夭, like taking an object and snapping it midway.' The character takes the 大 classifier, depicting an unextended form. Not living out one's allotted lifespan is called 夭).
