Brooding on eggs (抱卵: the standard character form is written 菢, also written 包, both with the fanqie 蒲[曰/月], *bào*): The *Tongsu wen* says: 'A hen brooding on eggs is called *bào* in northern Yan; east of the Jiang it is called *xū* (*xū* has the fanqie 央富, *yù*; *fú* has the fanqie 輔又, *fù*).'
