蒭槀(古文芻同測俱反下古老反小尒疋云稈謂之蒭所以飤獸曰蒭生曰生蒭謂青槀也說文刈草也蒼頡篇云槀禾稈也論文作蒿非也)。

Fodder and straw (蒭槀: the ancient script for 芻 is the same; pronounced [ce + ju >] *chú*; the second character is pronounced [gu + lao >] *gǎo*. The Xiao Erya states: "Stalks are called 蒭. What is fed to beasts is called 蒭. Freshly grown is called 'fresh fodder', meaning green straw." The Shuowen jiezi states: "Reaped grass." The Cangjiepian states: "槀 means grain stalks." In the treatise text it is written as 蒿, which is incorrect).
