羈勒（寄冝反王逸注楚辭云以華絡馬頭曰羈博雅亦馬勒也說文從冈從䩻古文作馽下力得反鄭注周禮以白黑飾韋雜色為勒也說文馬鑣銜也鑣音表苗反）。

羈勒 (bridle and halter; [ji is ji + yi] fan; Wang Yi's commentary on the Chuci states: 'Entwining the horse's head with ornaments is called ji'; the Boya also says: 'A horse's bridle'; the Shuowen has it composed of wang and leather; ancient script writes 馽; the second word is [li + de] fan; Zheng's commentary on the Zhouli states: 'Adorning leather with black and white in mixed colours makes a halter'; the Shuowen says: 'The horse's bit and bridle'; biao is pronounced [biao + miao] fan).
